Nathan Aspinall Has Moment of RAGE at Players Championship 27 [Watch]

Following the 2024 World Grand Prix last week, players are back to the Pro Tour in Wigan for PC27 & 28 on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. As darts stars look to get back to winning ways, Nathan Aspinall had a moment he’ll want to quickly forget…

Nathan Aspinall had a prolonged period of time away from the game this year as he took 3-4 months away from the oche in order to receive treatment and rehab an injury.

He timed his rehab between the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix in order to minimise the number of major tournaments he’d miss.

A second round exit at both the major events mentioned above are not looking good for ‘The Asp’ though as we approach a crucial time in the darts calendar.

In order to maintain his top 10 rank, place in the Premier League, and contest for some of the majors still to come he will need to find some form quickly.

The Players Championship events taking place this week are seemingly a priority for some of the top players as they look to get in as much match practice (and ranking money) as possible before the year ends.

Unfortunately, Aspinall would struggle and lose in the last 32 to Madars Razma earlier today, but the loss wasn’t the only talking point from the match…

Nathan Aspinall ‘Loses It’ at Players Championship 27

After comfortably beating Niels Zonneveld 6-1 in the last 64, Aspinall had a tougher draw against Madars Razma in the last 32.

At 4-4, Aspinall had a shot to take the lead with a score of 40 remaining.

He hit the single 20 meaning he’d need to switch down to D10 with his remaining two darts. After hitting a single 15 with his second dart, he wouldn’t have another attempt at a double this throw and saw red!

He launched his last dart at the board in anger in what can only be described as a moment of blind rage!

Now, we don’t condone his actions but something has to be pointed out, and that is his accuracy even when launching a dart with no aim.

He launched his dart in rage and managed to hit one of his darts already in the board. It was unnecessary but what a shot, he took the shaft clean off the dart already in the board!

You see him cool down and apologise almost instantly but he wouldn’t recover losing the game 6-4 and to make it worse, he’ll likely face disciplinary action from the Darts Regulation Authority

Not a good day at the office for The Asp!

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen some heated action away from the big stage this year though.

A few months ago at the MODUS Super Series, Alan Norris was furious with some of Johann Brouwer’s ‘antics’ and it made for one of the tense watches we’ve endured in a while 😬
