“It’s Getting Terry Jenkins Levels” – Debate Raised Again Asking Why Dave Chisnall Hasn’t Won a PDC Major

Dave Chisnall is having another successful campaign on the PDC Tour having won two European Tour titles and two Players Championship titles so far in 2024. He currently sits at 5th in the Order of Merit but questions are being asked as to why he still hasn’t won a PDC major title.

Dave Chisnall currently sits in 10th place for players that have earned the most from prize money in the PDC.

As one of the most talented darts players on the tour (as well as a fan favourite), he’s had a career that any dart player would be proud of. When it comes to Chizzy though, there’s always one single question mark attached to his name.

Why has he never won a PDC major tournament?

This topic of conversation has once again been raised ahead of the World Grand Prix next week as he goes into the tournament as a two-time finalist.

His first World Grand Prix finals appearance came back in 2013 so for him to be still inside the top 10 Order of Merit a decade later shows that he clearly has both darting ability and consistency.

The longer this goes on though, the more people seem to be questioning will ever get over the line to pick up his first PDC major…

Will Dave Chisnall Ever Win a PDC Major?

On the Love The Darts Podcast presented by Sky Sports, Emma Paton, Michael Bridge and Laura Turner discussed their thoughts on Dave Chisnall yet to win a PDC major, despite already winning multiple titles in front of large crowds.

Michael Bridge said:

“All the Euro Tours over the years, Chizzy is winning them in front of 12,000 – 15,000 arenas, 8,000/10,000/12,000 arenas.

“It’s not as if he only does it in front of a few people, we know he can do it.”

“So what is it then?” Emma asked.

“Do you know what, I don’t know.

“He’s still on TV, probably in a better atmosphere in some of these Euro Tour events.

“Is it something where people have just got into his head? I don’t know.

“It’s getting Terry Jenkins levels. I always got the feeling that I didn’t think he was ever going to win a final. Chizzy just has to block all that out if he ever gets to a final.”

Chisnall will face Cameron Menzies in the first round of the World Grand Prix next week.

This is a tricky tie but arguably more favourable than the one he had at the World Matchplay earlier this year where he was drawn against eventual semi-finalist James Wade.

As a player in good form, let’s hope Chizzy can have a good tournament and maybe, just maybe, take home his first major… 👀
