“I Won’t Stop Till I Get One” – Dave Chisnall is Determined to Win His First Major Title

Dave Chisnall comfortably whitewashed Cameron Menzies in the first round tie at the 2024 World Grand Prix and in his post game interview, Chisnall admits that he ‘won’t stop’ competing until he wins a PDC Major.

Dave Chisnall has been one of the most consistent performers in 2024.

Having risen to 5th on the PDC Order of Merit, Chizzy has won the European Darts Open, Flanders Darts Trophy (both European Tour events), and had a Players Championship title making him an in-form player on the tour.

For the 2024 World Grand Prix, he had a favourable draw against Cameron Menzies who was making his tournament debut.

The double-in format is always difficult for debut players and considering Chisnall has already competed in this tournament 13 times, twice runner-up in 2013 and 2019, he was a clear favourite.

His form and experience did prove to be too much as Chisnall eased past Menzies with a whitewash performance winning 2-0 (6-0 on legs).

This is a great start to the tournament for Chizzy, especially as he admits that he is still chasing that first PDC major title of his career…

Dave Chisnall “Won’t Stop” Until He Wins a PDC Major

Chisnall’s PDC player profile lists him as having 25 non-televised titles. That’s an impressive haul, however, the ‘non-televised’ part of the accolade has been one that has loomed over Chizzy for his professional career.

It’s something everyone is aware of and came up again during his post game interview this evening.

When asked if he had the belief the he can go on and win his first major, Chizzy responded:

“Yeah, it’s definitely there.

“I’m very confident in my own game at the moment so yeah, it’s definitely there.

“I won’t stop till I get one.”

This was his closing statement for the interview and that last sentence hits differently as many fans want to see him succeed 😞

We’ve covered this topic quite a few times on Decent Darts.

Chizzy appears in our list of best players to never win a major and just last week on the Love The Darts podcast, presenters were discussing why Dave Chisnall has not won a major title yet.

The title of ‘nearly man’ is applicable for a 6 x PDC major runner-up, but most darts fans (and players) are of the opinion that Chisnall is far too good of a player not to have won a major.

He’s 5th in the OoM in his 14th year as a professional which is just remarkable consistency and aged 44, he still has time to hit the highest heights of the sport.

He plays Dimitri Van den Bergh in the second round of the World Grand Prix on Thursday in what will be a testing matchup after Dimi progressed with a 97.18 average…
