2024 Nordic Darts Masters Preview

The main headlines around the Nordic Darts Masters is the omission of two key players.

Luke Littler and Michael Van Gerwen will miss the event for family commitments and are replaced by Stephen Bunting and Dimitri Van den Bergh.

Littler in particular is only 17 years old and therefore – despite his sudden rise to fame – the PDC and his management are not pressuring him to play every event.

Burnout could come easily with such a gruelling travel schedule so Littler is currently on holiday in Orlando following his semi-finals loss to Gerwyn Price last week at the US Darts Masters.

Rob Cross who won last week’s US Darts Masters and Gerwyn Price (runner-up) will both be hoping to keep their form going into the Nordic Masters.

Reigning 2023 Nordic Masters Winner Peter Wright will be hoping to retain the title in order to kick-start a run of form that is much needed for the Scotsman.

He’s had a dismal Premier League campaign finishing bottom of the table and is changing his darts setup more than ever (which is really saying something by his standards) to find his winning form again, especially going into the World Cup of Darts next month.

Madars Razma will be the player to watch from the Nordic representatives. The Latvian is currently holding the 36th position in the Order of Merit and has been a regular on the tour for a number of years now.

He recently had his name in the headlines for ‘gamesmanship’ against Michael Smith in the 2023 World Championships but is yet to see any deep tournament runs so this is a good opportunity for him to show up and perform.

Benjamin Drue Reus is a new Tour Card Holder from Denmark and he’ll have a hard matchup as he takes on current World Number 1 Luke Humphries in the first round.

The pair already met earlier this year at the UK Open with Humphries easing past him in the fifth round with a 10-3 win. Reus will be hoping for a more tightly contested match this weekend.
