Luke Littler Breaks 2 x 180 Records In One Week (One Grand Slam Specific & One All-Time…)

Luke Littler won his first PDC major ranking title on Sunday evening as he beat Martin Lukeman 16-3 to win the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts title in Wolverhampton.

It’s still not been 12 months since Luke Littler burst onto the scene at the 2024 World Darts Championship.

The then 16 year old runner-up had people wondering whether it was an unbelievable fluke or if Littler might be the real deal and a true darts prodigy.

Well, if 2024 is anything to go by, it’s looking like the latter…

Littler has just won his first PDC major ranking title by beating Martin Lukeman 16-3 in the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts final.

He’s now on 10 total titles in 2024 so far and still has the Players Championship Finals And World Darts Championship to come.

A 16-2 win over Jermaine Wattimena in the quarter-finals and 16-3 win over Martin Lukeman in the final is a demonstration of ‘flat-track bully’ mentality and his numbers backed it up.

In one week, Littler has set two 180 records.

He is now the holder for the most 180’s in a Grand Slam of Darts tournament. His 60 x 180’s hit have now surpassed the 52 x 180’s hit by Adrian Lewis in 2013.

Sure Littler had more legs played but you can see the 180’s per leg stat is almost identical, in 2013 Lewis was only able to make it to the semi-finals so considering Littler went on to win, it seems like a fair out right statistic.

While that’s a great record to hold, he also broke a bigger one and he’s not done with it yet…

Luke Littler SMASHES Record For Most 180’s In a Year

Last week, Luke Littler overtook Michael Smith for the most 180’s hit in a year (Jan 1st – December 31st).

Michael Smith set the record in 2022 when he won the Grand Slam of Darts and World Darts Championship with a total of 714 x 180’s.

Littler has been teasing to break that record with his rate of monthly 180’s hit and we even made the ‘players with the most 180’s in a year’ article (above ^) at the beginning of October noting this.

At the time of writing it, Littler was 3rd with 661 x 180’s, he’s now sitting on 768…

768 is the current record due to the 60 he hit during the Grand Slam and he still has time to add to this record further.

The Grand Slam of Darts is a relatively short format due to it being leg based instead of sets and especially when Littler is thrashing people 16-2 and 16-3. That sort of form actually holds him back from adding more 180’s by playing fewer legs.

His semi-final match against Gary Anderson was evidence of this where he won a closely contested match 16-15 and hit 16 x 180’s in that match.

If he has another long run at the World Championships which has sets and legs, he’s going to truly obliterate the record set by Smith 🤯

Michael van Gerwen has been the heaviest 180 hitter over the last decade with 4,580. If Luke Littler replicates his form from this year, he could come close to doubling that record in 10 years time.

That is just mind boggling.

The hype was ridiculous around Littler at the beginning of the year but his performances at just 17 years of age are showing that he’s the real deal.

Martin Lukeman just said Littler is going to break Phil Taylor’s records and that comment was on the back of a 16-3 loss to him, not analysing his records but purely a darts player recognising talent.

We don’t know if he can beat 16 x World Championships or World Matchplays but it looks like Littler will be making and breaking plenty of darts records in the years to come!
