Luke Littler Gives ‘Unbothered’ Reaction to 2026 World Championship Prize Money – Only Wants Title

Luke Littler made history once again on Sunday evening when he won his fifth PDC major title of the year and overtook Luke Humphries to become the new world number one in darts.

It was back-to-back Grand Slam of Darts titles for Luke Littler as he retained the title by beating close rival Luke Humphries 16-11 in the final.

Littler is now the youngest ever world champion in darts and the youngest ever world number one as the 18-year-old continues to break records.

Following the loss, Luke Humphries was quick to throw down the gauntlet and announced that he “will win the worlds” at the 2026 World Championship. The current stats are not in his favour though…

Littler has won 5/7 PDC major finals this year and while the two Luke’s are battling it out at the top of the rankings, it’s hard to look past the Nuke as the tournament favourite.

The 2026 World Championship will have the largest prize fund in darts history with the winner set to receive an eye-watering £1 million.

That was unimaginable in darts a few years ago, however, Luke Littler said in his post game interview that he isn’t thinking about the money.

Luke Littler Seemed ‘Unbothered’ by Talk of £1 Million Prize Money

During his post match interview with Sky Sports (alongside Luke Humphries), the pair were having some banter over the battle they will have at the 2026 World Championship.

During the conversation, Littler revealed he was only interested in winning the trophy stating:

“Everyone’s going to battle for it, me and him [Humphries] are certainly going to battle for it.

“Everyone is looking at the million quid but I’m sure Luke will want to get his title back and for myself, I want to go back-to-back.

“I think the money is the last thing we think of because these world titles… They don’t come very often.”

If you read or watched that statement, you might be inclined to think he’s just saying that to be professional or humble.

He has, however, already earned over £2 million in prize money since turning professional and maybe just as much (or more) from sponsorships.

He also has A LOT of years of playing darts if he chooses to do so and will likely become the highest paid darts player of all time within this decade.

It would seem he is being genuine in his comments though because Polly James immediately made the point to not downplay the money saying:

But the money this time is a million pounds though Luke

To which Littler simply shrugged it off and seemed genuinely unbothered!

You can see his reaction to Polly on the video below at the 4:06 timestamp:

Many of the older professional players have said they never thought they’d see the day when a single darts tournament would have a £1 million prize for the winner.

To see Luke Littler shrug it off just goes to show how different the next generation of darts players are!

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will both be back in action this weekend for the Players Championship Finals.

This is the final tournament before the 2026 World Championship gets underway next month.

Humphries has won this the previous two years running and will be desperate to keep that streak going and gain some momentum over Littler going into what will be the biggest darts tournament of all time!
