The 2025 Players Championship Finals get underway today as the 64-player field will be looking to build some momentum at the final major tournament before the 2026 World Championship gets underway next month.

It’s back-to-back major tournaments this weekend after Luke Littler beat Luke Humphries in the 2025 Grand Slam of Darts final to retain his title and move to number one in the world rankings.

Littler has now won five out of a possible seven ranking major titles in 2025 and the world champion will be looking to add to that collection this weekend with the PC Final being one of the few major titles he’s yet to win in professional darts.

Luke Humphries meanwhile has been the dominant force in this competition having won it for the last two years and beating Luke Littler in the final last year.

This does mean he’s defending that winning prize money from a few years prior though and has a very tricky first round match…

Below is a quick preview for everything you need to know about the 2025 Players Championship Finals including the format, draw, prize money, and where to watch it.

Quick Preview

Qualification for the Players Championship finals is based on the top-64 players in the Players Championship Order of Merit.

There have been 34 Players Championship events this year with these ProTour events being played without an audience or televised (though they are streamed by the PDC).

Many top players will miss a portion of these events throughout the year as they look to manage their schedule with invitational tournaments (Premier League and World Series of Darts) and Euro Tour events.

This means that most don’t enter the tournament as the top seeds like they do when seeding is based on top 16 in the rankings.

Michael van Gerwen has missed out on qualification completely this year alongside Dimitri Van den Bergh while Luke Littler is seeded 36th and Luke Humphries seeded 58th.

The exception to this group is Gerwyn Price.

The Iceman has had an all-round consistent year in all competitions and he finished as the top player in the Players Championship OoM having earned £103,000 in prize money across the campaign.

His four PC titles this year and two runner-up finishes is close to his best ever season on the ProTour and combined with his Euro Tour performances, he is also top of the ProTour OoM (not relevant to this competition).

He will go into this tournament as the top seed and will face Max Hopp in the first round.

In contrast to Price, Humphries finished 58th in seeding and has a MUCH tougher first round tie against Gian van Veen.

Last month the young Dutchman beat Humphries in the final of the 2025 European Championship to lift his first PDC major title.

This looks like the toughest draw of the first round for both players, especially considering they are the only two players outside of Luke Littler to win a ranking major title in 2025…

Former Players Championship finalists Dave Chisnall and Rob Cross are having below par seasons by their usual standard.

Both have been consistent top 10 players over the last decade or so but Chizzy is currently 18th in the rankings while Cross is 16th so both will be eyeing a deep run to help with their ranking position.

2025 Players Championship Finals Format

The 64-player field is seeded based on the Players Championship Order of Merit.

This sub-category of the overall OoM is made up of rankings money earned in Players Championship events during the calendar year only.

Round Two – Best of 11 legs
Round Three – Best of 19 legs
