“I Ain’t Finished Yet” – Peter Wright VOWS to Win Third World Championship Despite Struggling for Form

After a second round loss to James Wade at the 2025 Players Championship Finals yesterday, 2025 is the first year since 2013 that Peter Wright has failed to win a professional title in darts.

Despite this, he still believes he’ll become a three-time world champion…

Peter Wright has been to 21 PDC major finals and won 8 major titles during his career. Two of these titles were the World Darts Championship in 2020 and 2022.

These stats are identical to fellow countryman Gary Anderson, who is widely considered to be one of the best darts players of all time.

Snakebite has built a similar legacy for himself over the last few decades having made his first World Championship finals appearance back in 2014, though, the last few seasons have been something of a sharp decline for the Scotsman….

Peter Wright has not been to a PDC major final since 2023 and having failed to lift a title on the ProTour this year, he’s dropped down to 30th in the PDC Order of Merit rankings.

He was top 8 just a few seasons ago which shows how rapid and drastic his decline has been!

Despite the ranking drop and current form, Peter Wright still believes he will become a three-time world champion in the near future…

Peter Wright Vows to Win Third World Championship Title

A second round loss to James Wade at the 2025 Players Championship Finals would prove to be unfortunate timing for Peter Wright as he had called out his ‘doubters’ just a day prior.

After beating Joe Cullen in the first round, Snakebite told interviews in his post match interview that he shouldn’t be written off just yet, especially in the World Championship!

He said:

“I love proving people wrong.

“A lot of people said I should give up and yes, maybe they’re right, but inside here [pointing to his heart], I ain’t finished yet.

“There’s a million pounds for the (2026) world champion and I’m going to be a three-time world champion.

“Whether I win the million pound this year or next year… But I’ll definitely win it.

It’s an ambitious statement to make based on his current form as the majority of major titles have been dominated by Luke Humphries and Luke Littler these past two seasons.

Peter Wright was 51-years-old when he won his second world title though.

His prime darting years and success came much later in his career/life than arguably any other darts player in history.

While form is definitely not on his side, Wright is one of the most unpredictable players around.

He changes his darts and setup with outrageous frequency and if any player could find a hot streak of form out of nowhere, he is in that conversation.

Having beat reigning world champion Luke Humphries at the 2025 World Championship, he’s shown glimpses of still having the big game mentality but his results have been downward trending ever since.

Snakebite still has a huge fan following though and we’re sure many would want to see him break up the Luke dominance in just a few weeks time when the 2026 World Championship gets underway!
