Luke Littler is looking to make it back-to-back Premier League Darts titles tonight, after finishing top of the table to qualify for the play-offs at The O2 arena in London.

Luke Littler’s ascension to the top of the darts pyramid is showing no signs of slowing down this year, as the youngest ever World Champion looks to defend his Premier League Darts title later this evening.

Littler would become just the third player in history to win consecutive Premier League titles. This would see him join two of darts greatest players ever in doing so – Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.

Littler has already made history this season registering the most points (45) and nightly wins (6) in the Premier League since the introduction of the knockout-style nightly format.

His inclusion was questioned by many last year, but he would go on to top the table and win the play-off finals.

He’s now halfway to replicating that achievement again this year.

He’s had the highest tournament average, most 180’s and highest checkout success rate on route to the title defence and he’s showing the kind of performances that will see him destined to be a darts great…

Nathan Aspinall, someone who will also compete in the play-offs tonight, doesn’t believe he’ll have the longevity to break Phil Taylor’s records though.

He said earlier this week that he could see Littler retiring from darts in just FIVE years time!

Luke Littler Plans to Dominate Darts for AT LEAST 10 Years

Luke Littler has already won five PDC major titles in just 18 months as a professional player and is the current World Champion.

He’s won more than most professional players ever will but despite Aspinall’s comments, he has no intention of leaving the sport early. Speaking to Sky Sports, Littler said:

“I know I’ve heard that, I don’t know where he’s got that from – don’t worry, I’ll be here in 10 years.

“It’s crazy to even think about retiring.

“If I win 16 world titles like Phil [Taylor], I’ll retire, but I’m not even thinking about retirement at the minute – the money is there to be won, especially the World Championship but now only that, everything has gone up.

“It is all about what you’re feeling and I’m sure I’ll be here for a long time.”

With the announcement that the prize fund for the winner of the 2026 World Championship will be £1 million, it’s clear that darts is now going to be an incredibly lucrative career for the elite players.

Definitely more so than even just a decade ago…

Luke Littler is one of the driving forces behind the recent growth in darts and this clarification on his future could see him go on to dominate the game just like Taylor did in the past.

He’ll continue his title hunt tonight with a semi-final match against Gerwyn Price who is full of confidence going into the game…
