Josh Rock Won’t Class Himself As An Elite Player Until He Hits ‘ONE’ Career Milestone…

Josh Rock is having the breakout season that darts fans expected from the young ace a few years ago when he first broke onto the darting scene.

After admitting that he’d been struggling in recent years due to issues with management and manufactures, 2025 has been a more settled year for the Northern Irishman and his performances at the oche are really showing it.

New management and a new sponsorship with leading manufacturer Target Darts have provided a stable platform for Rock to finally start to realise his darts potential.

In 2022 he burst onto the scene hitting a nine-darter against Michael van Gerwen at the Grand Slam of Darts before going on to win the World Youth Championship and cementing himself as a real prospect.

Despite winning some titles on the Tour in the following years, his results in major tournaments were not quite the level fans expected with numerous first round exits.

A semi-final place at the UK Open, World Matchplay and sensational victory in the World Cup of Darts alongside teammate Daryl Gurney have put Rock firmly on the darts map as a potential elite player now though.

With the burden of his first major title (unranked) off his back, Rocky has been looking like one of the best players in the world at the moment.

However, the 24-year-old is still hesitant to put himself in the ‘elite’ bracket until he reaches a certain career milestone…

Josh Rock Has Eyes Set on Premier League Darts

The PDC released a behind the scenes video from Josh Rock at the 2025 World Matchplay and have invited him to the Oceania leg of the World Series of Darts

This is currently taking place and consists of the Australian Darts Masters and New Zealand Darts Masters.

This is Rock’s first participation in the PDC’s invitational events which show both their faith in him and his growing stature in darts.

During an interview during the Australian Darts Masters though, Rock is reluctant to get too ahead of himself.

When asked about possible inclusion in the 2026 Premier League Darts, Rock said:

“If I get the Premier League next year then happy days but if I don’t, I’ll have to work harder for it.

“I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and if I get the call up I’ll be happy. If I don’t then I just have to work harder because I’m obviously not ready for it.

“I will never class myself as one of the elite players until I’m in the Premier League.

“If you’re in the Premier League you’re the elite players, you’re the one that’s going to be on TV for 17 weeks straight. So if I get the call up this year, I’ll be grateful and then I’ll officially class myself as one of the elite players.”

Rock seems to have very clearly defined goals based on his response and if he continues to show the form and averages he’s produced so far this year, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him make the Premier League line-up next year 🤔
