Luke Littler followed up his 2025 World Matchplay title win with another title on Saturday, beating Mike De Decker 8-4 in the final to claim the 2025 Australian Darts Masters. Following the win he revealed that he didn’t even practice in the run up to the tournament…

The World Series of Darts is finishing its global tour with back to back weeks in Oceania for the Australian Darts Masters and New Zealand Darts Masters.

Luke Littler continued to add to his title haul as he lifted his 4th World Series title.

Victories over Haupai Puha (6-5), Damon Heta (6-3), Stephen Bunting (7-4) and Mike De Decker (8-4) earned him the £30,000 prize fund and extended his win streak to 9 matches following his World Matchplay wins.

Littler is going to be a favourite going into any tournament he plays for the foreseeable future, however, the world champion admitted that he hasn’t practiced since the World Matchplay and will pick and choose what tournaments he’ll practice for moving forward…

Luke Littler Practice Schedule

Going into the 2025 World Matchplay, Littler admitted to putting in more practice time than usual in a bid to lift the trophy and secure the darts triple crown – a feat he ultimately achieved after beating James Wade in the final.

He’s admitted in the past that he doesn’t practice much and fellow players like Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall also confirmed this saying he doesn’t use the practice boards much even during events.

When asked by the media about his preparation following the Australian Darts Masters win, Littler revealed that he will only practice for ‘big tournaments’ going forward.

He said:

“I know how much I’ll practice and I know how much I’ve been doing. I practiced really well for the Matchplay and went on to win it so I think I’ll practice for the big ones.”

An interviewer referenced that Littler had not ‘picked up a dart’ since the World Matchplay, yet he had a 90+ average for all four matches in Wollongong.

His ability is phenomenal but to put in performances like that with no practice time is something that is unheard of, even amongst elite professional players.

Phil Taylor previously confessed to bringing a dartboard on holiday with him because he didn’t want to miss any practice time during his prime years.

With such a packed tournament calendar, Littler is not only prioritising what events he should play in but he’s now going to prioritise practice sessions as well.

It’s definitely a unique strategy, but if he can avoid burnout like some other players have faced this year whilst also maintaining performance on the oche, it could prove to be a very smart strategy from a youngster changing that game of darts…
