Gerwyn Price made it through to the last 16 of the 2025 Grand Slam of Darts last night after finishing top of Group D with a 5-1 win over Stefan Bellmont.
The Welshman is one of the tournament’s prolific winners as he sits joint-second with three Grand Slam titles (2018, 2019 and 2021) to his name alongside Michael van Gerwen.
After failing to qualify for the tournament last year, he also got off to a shaky start in the 2025 campaign with a 5-4 loss to Ricky Evans on the opening day.
Back-to-back wins over James Wade and Stefan Bellmont though see him top the group and he will progress to face Martin Schindler in the last 16.

During his post-match interview, however, talks turned away from this tournament and Price is looking ahead and justifying his inclusion for the 2026 Premier League.

Gerwyn Price Justifies 2026 Premier League Inclusion
Premier League Darts line-ups are always a controversial talking point between fans and players with 2025 not being an expectation to this.
Both Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall had their places publicly questioned after both players struggled to stay in the top 10 in rankings in 2024 and neither had much success in major tournaments.
Aspinall in particular was targeted after Mike De Decker labeled the PDC as ‘scandalous’ for leaving him out while putting The Asp in based “on his walk-on song”.
Both eventually justified their inclusion though after finishing 3rd and 4th in the table to qualify for finals night.
When asked last night whether he was looking ahead to secure inclusion in the 2026 Premier League, Price responded:
“I think I’m one of the best players this season.
“If you look at the way I played last year, I was absolutely terrible and I was in. I’m number one on the ProTour, number one on the Players Championship list, if you look at money earned I’m in the top 5, top 6.
“I’ve had a great year. You look at everybody else, don’t question me, question them.”
Price would also pass comment on the recent talk of Beau Greaves potentially deserving a place in the 2026 Premier League and he was not as praising as some of the other professional players had been on the subject…

Gerwyn Price Labels Beau Greaves Premier League Talk a ‘Joke’
When asked further about competition for places and in particular from Beau Greaves, Price wasn’t hesitant to give his opinion…
“Yeah I think it’s a joke but yeah, I don’t know.”
Price made his comment with a wry smile and while it was a pretty blunt/brutal response, it didn’t seem that he was directing it at Greaves but more the conversation in general.
This topic came about after recent comments by Raymond van Barneveld who said that if she does well in the World Championship she’ll be guaranteed a place in the Premier League.
Greaves has been a sensation in darts and since securing her Pro Tour card last month she went on to beat Luke Littler in the World Youth Championship and set up a finals tie against Gian van Veen.
While currently bottom of her group in the Grand Slam of Darts, Greaves pushed multi-time world champions Gary Anderson and Michael Van Gerwen to deciding legs and posted a 100+ average in both matches.
