“I’m a Big Believer that Men’s and Ladies Darts Should Be Separate” – Beau Greaves Wants MORE Gender Separation in Darts

Beau Greaves won her second Women’s World Matchplay title in successive years but despite her recent domination of the women’s game, she doesn’t want to focus on playing against the men and even claimed to ‘hate’ it.

At the weekend, Beau Greaves successfully defended her Women’s World Matchplay title, beating Fallon Sherrock 6-3 in the final.

Beau has been a revelation in darts since playing at the senior level for the previous two seasons.

Aged just 20, Beau has won 2 x WDF Women’s World Championships, 2 x PDC Women’s World Matchplay titles, 23 PDC Women’s Series events and participated in the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts.

Her meteoric rise is comparable to Luke Littler as she raises the profile of both women’s darts and darts in general with her talent and accolades at such a young age.

Many feel she has the ability to compete at a high level within the men’s game, surpassing what Fallon Sherrock has been able to do in recent years, however, this isn’t something that Beau herself wants to pursue.

In fact, it’s the opposite…

Beau Greaves States She “Hates Playing Against the Men”

Following her win at the Women’s World Matchplay, Beau Greaves revealed some very personal opinions when it comes to women’s darts.

Not only does Beau want to see more done for the women’s game but she went as far as saying she hates playing against men as she turns down the opportunity to play at the 2025 PDC World Championship.

Speaking to the Online Darts and Darts Now, Beau said:

“I just want more for the ladies game. I think we deserve a separate part of it.

“You look at other sports where mens and ladies are separate and I think that’s a big thing. I think darts is missing a trick really, we could do with a lot more separate competitions and a lot of other stuff.

“I just don’t think we will ever be good enough to play against the likes of Humphries, van Gerwen, even Littler…

“You’re just facing a losing battle before you’ve even thrown a dart so I just want a bit more out of that side of it I think.”

To further add to this, an interviewer asked Beau what would be more important to her – to establish herself playing men and beating men or for the women’s game to be expanded as she’d just said.

She responded:

“For me it’s the women’s game. I don’t think any lady will ever go to Ally Pally and win that. You are just being silly if you think that’s possible.

“When I go to the Grand Slam I don’t look forward to it because I know I’ve got to play men. I don’t fancy my chances at all, I’m realistic. I know how I can play but it doesn’t necessarily happen on the day.

“The men are just a lot more consistent and we’re not, it’s just how it is.”

It feels strange to hear these statements come from Beau personally because if there’s any female that can seriously compete against the men, it’s Beau!

She averaged a 114.56 average against Kevin Painter in the Modus Super Series and in the Grand Slam of Darts she was leading the table in 180s hit for a short period.

This is no disrespect to Fallon who has definitely been competitive against the men on the Pro Tour and in PDC main events but Beau genuinely seems like she has the talent to compete in latter stages of tournaments, regardless of gender 🤷🏻‍♂️

What do you think of Beau’s comments, do you agree or do you think she is doing herself an injustice as a darts player with immense ability (regardless of gender).
