Chris Dobey is currently enjoying some of the best darts of his career.
The 2023 Masters winner finished as a semi-finalist in the 2025 World Darts Championship, earned a recall to the Premier League and is currently ranked 9th in the world on the PDC Order of Merit.
His Premier League campaign is probably not going as well as he’d have hoped as he currently sits in 7th place in the table with just three matches won after eight nights.
Only Stephen Bunting is below him as the Bullet is going through a nightmare campaign having failed to register a single point or win so far.

One of the issues Dobey is facing at the minute is his finishing. He’s one of the best scorers in the game but is struggling to put games away when he needs to.
It turns out however, the resolution might not be on the practice board as Dobey recently revealed that he essentially has a ‘marathon’ routine just to warm-up…

Chris Dobey Spends 30 Minutes Warming Up Before Practice
In an interview with talkSPORT Darts, Chris Dobey was asked about his practice routine and what it looks like when you’re one of the top players in the world.
Dobey’s response was surprising:
“The first thing I do when I pick my darts up is I throw at the bull constantly for 20-30 minutes just to get my eye in at a small target.
“Then, I feel once I’ve got my eye in that the trebles look massive in comparison. That’s how I’ve always started and I’ll never change that.
“You do a lot of the finishing, you go around the board on the doubles, you can checkout from 121 is what we play together. A few of the players will practice with each other and they’ll checkout 121 in six darts so yeah, everybody’s got their own little practice routines.”
Hosts Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent carried on with the interview but would come back to comment on this after the interview ended just to emphasise the warm-up routine in particular.
Bent said he made a note of the ‘30 minutes just to aim at the bull’ adding: “that’s a long time”.
This is coming from a former Premier League striker, someone who himself would have repetitive drills for shooting and finishing.
