Top 10 Darts Players With the Most 180’s in the Last Decade [RANKED]

Everyone loves to see a 180 go in. Hearing the call and seeing the camera pan to fans holding up the 180 banners is an iconic part of the game and an aspect that makes darts so great to watch.

The standard and scoring in darts these days though is so high that the buzz of 180’s being called out has faded a bit. We see clips online now of people hitting back to back 180’s for fun, even in amateur tournaments!

Still, there are players that get us excited about 180’s to this day and it’s the players that just hit them so much more frequently than everyone else.

Looking at tournament stats from the last decade, we’ve made a list ranking the darts players with the most 180’s in the last decade.

If you want to see a high scoring match, just wait for the next time you see two players on this list go head to head…

10. Stephen Bunting – 2,707

Stephen Bunting has been around for a surprisingly long time now, having played in the BDO for a decade and now the PDC for over a decade and has moderate success in both.

A BDO World Champion, BDO Winmau World Masters Champion and finally a PDC major winner after claiming The Masters title earlier this year.

The Bullet has been a solid player going to countless deep tournament runs but something we never noticed was how solid of a scorer he was.

He’s actually the 3rd highest 180 scorer over the last 12 months, only trailing the two Luke’s, and has had an impressive 2,707 over the last decade to snatch the final spot on this list.

What a ‘Bunting Mental’ effort.

9. Luke Humphries – 2,826

Despite the fact that Luke Humphries has just had one of the best 12 month periods of dominance of all time (bested by Taylor and MVG of course), we’re surprised to see the World Champion and World Number 1 make it onto this list.

Development Tour aside, it wasn’t until 2018 that Humphries started playing the senior tour with regularity and it wasn’t until 2021 that he really started to play in all the televised major tournaments.

When you look at how many tournaments he’s played, his Wikipedia timeline looks very short and also empty compared to others on this list.

For reference, Phil Taylor played in so many tournaments he needed a separate Wikipedia page just for his tournaments and stats!

That’s a testament to just how consistent Humphries has been as he’s steadily improved year after year.

From 2022-2024 he’s hit 1,333 x 180’s, almost half of his total in just 3 years. That’s a pretty ridiculous stat and if he carries on like that then we see PLENTY more major titles in the future with his name on.

8. Rob Cross – 2,949

Rob Cross hasn’t even been playing on the PDC Tour for a decade having only earned his tour card in 2017.

Voltage, the former electrician, would have the ultimate underdog story when he topped off his debut year as a professional darts player by winning the 2018 World Darts Championship and beating non-other than Phil Taylor in the final.

You don’t get a much better story than that. Cross has been a consistent player over the years but is yet to reach the heights of his first few years as a pro.

Still, into only his 8th year he’s made it to 8th on this list for 180’s scored. Poetic.

At 2,949 it’s around 350 per year as an average. If he’d played a full decade he’d have cracked the top 5 on this list 👀

7. Daryl Gurney – 2,954

‘SuperChin’ is a World Grand Prix and Players Championship finals winner who’s had an impressive spell as a pro player.

The peak for him was 2017-2019 where he would make several semi-finals appearances (alongside the two major wins above) and make it into the Premier League of Darts roster.

One reason why he was such a threat to the top seeds throughout his career is his ability to catch fire when scoring.

With 2,954 180’s, Gurney has put himself amongst some of the best to ever throw when it comes to scoring which is not bad going.

At the time of writing this, Gurney has just beat MVG in the 2024 World Grand Prix with a whitewash performance so even to this day you can’t write off the Derry man!

6. Gary Anderson – 3,081

One of the greats of the game. The Flying Scotsman is a joy to watch when in full flow, when it does happen you can be sure to see 180’s flying in with regularity.

Anderson peaked roughly a decade ago and his last televised major titles came in 2018.

That’s not to say he’s not still been a threat with the 2 x World Champion reaching the 2021 World Championship final just to show he’d not lost it just yet.

The list probably doesn’t work in Anderson’s favour.

More tournaments now combined with an ageing Anderson has impacted his position on this list but with 3,081, he’s still more that cemented his place as one of the best 180 hitters in the last decade.

At the time of writing he has the highest running average over the last 12-months of any player at 99.07 so safe to say we still have some good years left out of him yet.

5. Gerywn Price – 3,355

Few would call Gerwyn Price a fan favourite but one thing we can all agree on is that he’s been one of the best players in the world over the last decade.

7 PDC major titles, 8 runner-up placings and several non-televised titles is some haul for the Iceman.

A former professional rugby player turned World Darts Champion, Price seemed to come out of nowhere and after winning the Grand Slam of Darts in 2018 he became a force in darts.

He’s currently suffering one of the worst campaigns of his career since turning pro a decade ago (convenient for this list), but after knocking in 3,355 180’s in that time, it’s hard to imagine a player with that scoring power can’t make it back to the top once it clicks for him.

4. Dave Chisnall – 3,851

Joining the PDC just a few years later than Gary Anderson, Chizzy has unfortunately not hit the same heights as the Scotsman despite having plenty of ability and potential.

With an unfortunate title of ‘nearly man’ at the moment, Chizzy has previously made our lists on Decent Darts but for less flattering reasons.

See the lists:
👉 5 best players to NEVER win a PDC major
👉 6 players we think HAVE to win a PDC major

^ Notice a trend?

With several runner-up placings in majors, he’s never been able to get over the line despite having 25 non-televised titles with the PDC.

Many of which in front of large crowds on the Euro Tour.

Chizzy is currently 5th in the PDC Order of Merit and the fact that he’s 3rd on this list is a testament to his ability and scoring power. Surely it’s just a matter of time before he cracks it with a major…

3. Michael Smith – 4,185

There was a time, much like Chizzy, that Michael Smith was on the verge of becoming a ‘nearly man’.

From 2018-2022, he had 8 runner-up placings at PDC majors. That’s a crazy amount in such a short period of time!

The 2022 Grand Slam of Darts victory changed his fortunes though and he’d then go on to become a World Champion just a few months later.

Alongside Gary Anderson, Smith is up there with one of the best throws in the game. Fast, smooth, and a ridiculous scorer when he hits full flow, Bully Boy is great to watch when on form.

With 4,185 x 180’s and 3rd on this list, we have to admit we’re surprised by his placing. Before looking up the stats we were sure he’d be top of the list.

Considering he didn’t start making it to finals until 2018, similar time as Rob Cross, he’s probably not had long enough at his peak to hit the top of this list but surely it’s just a matter of time…

2. Peter Wright – 4,317

Peter Wright was finishing as runner-up in tournaments a decade ago and his record is quite astounding really.

From 2014-2019 he had 13 runner-up finishes in PDC majors and only one win.

Then, the fan favourite peaked in his very late 40’s to flip the script and over the next four years he’d win 7 PDC majors and have just the single runner-up finish.

That’s some turnaround for Snakebite and the 2 x World Championship winner can likely thank his accuracy on the treble bed for that.

With 4,317 maximum scores over the last decade, his power scoring surely helped him reach a winning standard so late in his career and landed him a spot at second for the most 180’s hit over the last decade.

Unfortunately we’ll have to add that to his runner-up tally 👀

1. Michael van Gerwen – 4,580

MVG’s career placing at PDC televised majors (Image source – Wikipedia)

A decade ago was when Michael van Gerwen really entered his period of domination over the darting world.

Taking the mantle from Phil Taylor, MVG has had a real good run at trying to best Taylor’s unbelievable records in the sport and to be honest, he’s had a good go of it!

As the second most accomplished darts player off all time, it’s really not too surprising to see him top this list.

MVG is seen as more of a dominant and clinical player rather than a straight ‘heavy-scorer’ like some others on this list but in the process of simply dominating the competition, he racked up a lot of 180’s!

4,580 and counting.

He’s not the player he once was but we’ll one day make a list of the top 180 hitters of all time and we’re sure he’ll still be close to the top.

It’s hard to see anyone currently on this list that could overtake the dutchman. Humphries has had a dominant year but MVG had multiple and while he isn’t the force he once was, he’s still around.

The next generation has a chance though.

Gian van Veen hit the most 180’s in 2023 and this year Luke Littler is on course to beat Michael Smith for the most 180’s hit in a single year.

At that rate and at just 17 years old, it’s a fairly safe prediction to think that one day Littler will top this list.

For now though, MVG reigns supreme in another category, just like he has done in most others the last decade…
