12 Darts Players With The Most Major Titles In PDC History [Ranked]

The PDC have been developing the professional darts game for over three decades now and at the time of writing, darts is at an all-time high in terms of popularity.

Participation is up, viewership in the UK is second only to football on Sky Sports, and the prize money in darts has also ballooned in recent years.

While some of the greatest ever darts players were in their prime before the PDC was ever conceived, this division has had the majority of darting greats.

There are now 8 ranking PDC major tournaments and 3 non-ranking major tournaments in darts. The big titles are the ones that all players want and the sign of an elite darts player is having multiple major titles to your name.

Below, we’ve listed the top 12 darts players with the most major titles in PDC history

*It’s a ranked list ordered by major titles won. if any players are tied for number of titles, we’ll rank the player with more ranking titles or world championship titles in the higher position. The ranking also doesn’t include team events like the World Cup of Darts.

Darts Players With The Most Major Titles In PDC History

12) Jonny Clayton – 4 PDC Majors

  • 2021 Premier League
  • 2021 World Grand Prix
  • 2021 World Masters
  • 2021 World Series Finals

After making it to the final of the 2017 Players Championship Finals, Jonny Clayton became a solid top 16 player. Semi-final runs at the 2020 UK Open and European Championship were promising and then aged 47, Jonny had a breakout season in 2021.

His 4 PDC major titles have all come within that same year.

At the time, 3 of these were non-ranking majors which stopped him moving higher up the rankings from a stable 7-10 place and meant he’s often gone under the radar compared with similar players around him.

While he’s yet to replicate his winning run in 2021, he’s come close and made it to the Winamu World Masters earlier this year which has been reclassified as a ranking title.

He followed that up with 3 consecutive semi-final finishes in PDC ranking majors and could be a dark horse going into the 2026 World Championship.

11) Rob Cross – 4 PDC Majors

  • 2018 World Championship
  • 2019 World Matchplay
  • 2019, 2021 European Championship

Rob Cross has had the ultimate underdog story in darts.

Having joined the Tour in 2017 after giving up his job as a full-time electrician (hence the Voltage nickname), he made it to the final of the 2017 European Championship and semi-final of the 2017 Players Championship Finals.

Not bad for a first season as a pro, however, just a few months later he would do the unthinkable and win the 2018 World Championship beating Phil Taylor in the final.

He went from just joining the Tour a year earlier to being the world champion and ranked second in the world.

Spoiler – someone has outdone his achievement since…

Over the last several years Cross has made it 11 PDC finals proving that he wasn’t ‘lucky’ as some have commented but has rather been a consistent top performer in darts.

10) Adrian Lewis – 4 PDC Majors

  • 2011, 2013 World Championship
  • 2012 European Championship
  • 2014 UK Open

Adrian Lewis is one the the most talented and naturally gifted darts players of all-time.

His effortless throw and power scoring meant he was a joy to watch during his prime, it’s therefore a shame that his prime years didn’t last so long…

Jackpot went to 14 PDC major finals during a decade-long spell and during a time when he became a back-to-back world champion, you’d think he’d have won a lot more.

Since stepping back from professional darts, he’s admitted that he should have won more based on ability but didn’t quite have the mindset to go with it.

Regardless, he’s still in an elite bracket of multi-time and back-to-back world champions!

9) Raymond van Barneveld – 6 PDC Majors

  • 2006, 2007 UK Open
  • 2007 World Championship
  • 2007 Las Vegas Desert Classic
  • 2012 Grand Slam of Darts
  • 2014 Premier League

Raymond van Barneveld is one of darts most iconic and successful darts players.

He single handedly inspired a nation of darts players and the influx of elite Dutch players in the modern game is a large part down to his influence (and latter MVG).

Barney spent a lot of years in the BDO before finally turning professional in 2006.

He immediately proved doubters wrong by making it to the final of the 2007 World Championship and beating Phil Taylor in one of darts greatest ever matches

Barney cleaned up in the BDO circuit winning 14 major titles including 4 world championships. While his PDC tally doesn’t quite match that, his career trophy cabinet is stacked!

He also went to 15 PDC major finals over the last two decades showing both his longevity and consistency at the top of the sport.

8) Gerwyn Price – 7 PDC Majors

  • 2018, 2019, 2021 Grand Slam of Darts
  • 2020 World Grand Prix
  • 2020, 2022 World Series of Darts Finals
  • 2021 World Championship

A former professional rugby player, Gerwyn Price turned to a new sporting profession in 2015.

In a shorter career, Price has matched Raymond van Barneveld for number of PDC major finals (15) but just nudged ahead with an additional title to his name.

We’re not comparing the two, Barney is just a good comparison to show how successful Price has been since turning pro.

A world champion and perpetual winner of the Grand Slam of Darts, Price has been a big game player since lifting that first Grand Slam title in 2018.

Over the years, Price has rubbed fans and players up the wrong way with ‘antics’ and bust-ups on stage but a lot of fans have warmed to him in 2025.

He had a downturn in 2024 where he wasn’t performing but when on form, he’s a blockbuster player and it seems like fans are appreciating it a lot more now.

7) Luke Humphries – 8 PDC Majors

  • 2023 World Grand Prix
  • 2023 Grand Slam of Darts
  • 2023, 2024 Players Championship Finals
  • 2024 World Championship
  • 2024 World Matchplay
  • 2025 World Masters
  • 2025 Premier League

Luke Humphries turned professional in 2018.

From 2018 to mid 2023, he’d won several ranking titles and made it to the final of the 2021 UK Open, though wasn’t on the radar for many in terms of having elite ability or potential.

After winning the 2023 World Grand Prix, he went ballistic.

8 PDC major titles and a total of 15 major finals have all happened in just the last few years for Cool Hand.

He’s had one of the most dominant spells in darts history and if it weren’t for the emergence of Luke Littler around the same time, he would have been much higher on this list.

6) Gary Anderson – 8 PDC Majors

  • 2011, 2015 Premier League
  • 2014 Players Championship Finals
  • 2015, 2016 World Championship
  • 2018 UK Open
  • 2018 World Matchplay
  • 2018 Champions League

This is where the numbers start getting sizable.

Gary Anderson has been to 21 PDC major finals and won 8 titles in the process.

This is nearly double that of Rob Cross in 11th on this list!

A surprisingly high percentage of these major finals have also been in the World Championship where Anderson is a two-time winner (back-to-back) and three-time runner-up.

Like Lewis, Anderson is one of the most naturally gifted darts players of any generation and makes the game look effortless.

He even recently admitted that he never took darts as seriously as he should have and treated it as a “hobby”.

It may have been a hobby to him but he still got one of the most impressive darting cv’s in history!

5) Peter Wright – 8 PDC Majors

  • 2017 UK Open
  • 2020, 2022 World Championship
  • 2020 World Masters
  • 2020, 2023 European Championship
  • 2021 World Matchplay
  • 2021 Players Championship Finals

Peter Wright has eerily, almost identical stats to fellow countryman Gary Anderson.

Snakebite has also been to 21 major finals, won 8 PDC major titles and is a two-time world champion.

He only edges ahead of Anderson on this list because he’s only won ranking major titles whereas Anderson has a few non-ranking.

Wright has had a crazy career that matches his on-stage persona. In the 2010’s, he went to 13 major finals but only managed to lift a single title during that run at the 2017 UK Open.

Then in the 2020’s he flipped the script completely winning 7 major titles and only coming runner-up once!

Most of his titles also came during his late 40’s and early 50’s which has been all the more impressive considering many of the elite players are now much younger.

Especially the next player on this list…

4) James Wade – 11 PDC Majors

  • 2007 World Matchplay
  • 2007, 2010 World Grand Prix
  • 2008, 2011, 2021 UK Open
  • 2009 Premier League
  • 2010 Championship League
  • 2014 World Masters
  • 2018 European Championship
  • 2018 World Series of Darts Finals

James Wade has been one of the most consistent performers darts has seen.

In more than two decades as a pro player, Wade is still making it to finals in PDC major competitions and is still ranking inside the top 8 in the world rankings.

He is easily considered to be the best darts player to never win a world title and his career maybe doesn’t get the recognition it deserves because he doesn’t have this title.

He’s the only player besides Jonny Clayton on this list that isn’t a world champion

He admits his personality is a big part of that, however, 11 PDC major titles and 29 major finals appearances has The Machine as the fourth most accomplished darts player in PDC history.

He’s earned a lot of titles and a lot of prize money during his career. He may not be a world champion which does hold him back in an all-time greats conversation but on accolades alone, he’s comfortably top 10.

3) Luke Littler – 14 PDC Majors

  • 2024, 2026 Premier League
  • 2024 World Series of Darts Finals
  • 2024, 2025 Grand Slam of Darts
  • 2025, 2026 World Championship
  • 2025, 2026 UK Open
  • 2025, 2026 World Matchplay
  • 2025 World Grand Prix
  • 2025 Players Championship Finals
  • 2026 World Masters

Luke Littler burst onto the darts scene as a 16-year-old making it to the final of the 2024 World Championship.

There were debates about whether he was a prodigy or just hype and enjoying a ‘purple patch’ of form. Not even two years later it’s safe to put him firmly into the prodigy category.

Still aged just 19, he’s now become the 3rd most accomplished player in PDC history from a major titles perspective, and there’s only one ranking major titles he’s yet to win (European Championship).

In 2025 The Nuke won 6/8 major ranking titles and has had a season so dominant that only the likes of Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen can appreciate.

He’s started 2026 in similar fashion winning the first four major tournaments of the year so far…

He could retire now and would still have one of the most successful careers in darts history.

2) Michael van Gerwen – 48 PDC Majors

  • World Championship (x3)
  • World Matchplay (x3)
  • World Grand prix (x6)
  • Grand Slam of Darts (x3)
  • Premier League (x7)
  • UK Open (x3)
  • World Masters (x5)
  • Champions League (x1)
  • European Championship (x4)
  • Players Championship Finals (x7)
  • World Series of Darts Finals (x6)

You may (or may not) have noticed that for Michael van Gerwen’s accolades we skipped the year he won then and simply added the number of times he won each.

This is because he’s won more that 4 x as many PDC major titles than anyone else below him on this list.

Not only has he won every PDC major title (except the Championship League which no longer runs), he’s won every current major title MULTIPLE times.

Between 2015 – 2017 MVG was one of the most dominant forces darts has ever seen and is one of only two pro players in PDC history that players say had the ‘fear factor’ about him.

He’s not been able to sustain this win rate for as long as the player above him on this list but 65 major finals and 48 major titles is levels above even the best on this list.

1) Phil Taylor – 79 PDC Majors

  • World Championship (x14)
  • World Matchplay (x16)
  • World Grand Prix (x11)
  • Grand Slam of Darts (x6)
  • Premier League (x6)
  • UK Open (x5)
  • World Masters (x1)
  • Champions League (x1)
  • European Championship (x4)
  • Players Championship Finals (x3)
  • Championship League (x4)
  • US Open (x3)
  • Las Vegas Desert Classic (x5)

MVG had us change dates to the number of times a title was won. Phil Taylor takes it one step further, winning individual major titles more than a dozen times.

14 x PDC World Championship winner and 16 x PDC World Matchplay winner are simply ludicrous numbers for the most dominant darts player of all time.

Of the 92 major finals he went to in the PDC, Taylor won 79 of them giving him a finals win rate just shy of 86%.

He’s won every possible major title and did so on multiple occasions. He’s won more finals than any other player on this list has appeared in.

The numbers really do speak for themselves when it comes to Phil Taylor’s position on this list and if any player can beat his tally, they will surely be deserving of a claim to his throne as the best darts players of all-time…
