Is This the Most AWKWARD and TENSE Darts Match Ever?!?! [Watch]

Yesterday saw a MODUS Super Series match that ended up being one of the most tense we’ve seen in a long time with multiple awkward moments between the players.

Alan Norris faced Johann Brouwer in a Group C match in the MODUS Super Series yesterday afternoon and what seemed like a regular match very quickly showed signs that it would be anything but.

We do mean quickly…

Before starting, the players instantly had their first awkward encounter of the day as Norris went to fist bump to signal he’s ready to go but Brouwer went for a traditional handshake.

Neither player adjusted to the other so we just ended up seeing and incredibly awkward moment of Brouwer kind of shaking Norris’ wrist 🤣🤦

Not the best start for these two but Norris laughed it off so it was awkward, but not tense.

Well moments later we caught a better glimpse of what was to come.

Brouwer hit a 121 but celebrated like it was a maximum or crucial dart.

He was on 301 while Norris was on 200 yet you could still see him celebrating the shot while Norris was preparing to throw.

I don’t think we’ve ever seen someone celebrate a 121 shot like that and genuinely can’t work out why he was so amped up after hitting it?

Brouwer would take the first leg after Norris missed quite a few darts at a finish.

He ‘obviously’ celebrated it but then before Norris went to begin the second leg, he stood at the oche just getting himself amped up AGAIN!

Honestly, the energy this guy was putting out seemed to make no sense to us as a viewer!

Don’t get us wrong, it’s good to be passionate but he was on another level being so early in a match.

Norris would win the next two legs with not so much drama (though Brouwer still had his energetic moments) but then we’d see tension build in the fourth leg…

Norris let out a shout when winning the third to give it back to Brouwer, only for Brouwer to then celebrate an 81 to open the fourth leg.

An 81.

Brouwer would go on to win the fourth to tie the match 2-2 on legs but just look at Norris:

He was clearly getting rattled by Brouwer at this point as he stared him down for a good few seconds.

Norris would then hit the first maximum of the game and while Brouwer offers him a first bump to acknowledge the shot, Norris straight up ignores him and this is where you feel the tension between the players now.

Norris would go on to win the match 4-2 and the pair would shake hands (and actually manage it successfully this time) but that game got so unnecessarily tense!

We don’t think Brouwer was intentionally trying to provoke Norris but when you celebrate an 81 scored, that’s going to rub a lot of players up the wrong way.

If you’ve not seen it yet then watch the full match below👇

Is this the most tense darts match ever?

Also let us know, have you seen a stranger match than this one?

We definitely didn’t expect this from a random Thursday in August as the MODUS Super Series that’s for sure!
