Simon Whitlock took to social media yesterday to issue a heartfelt message to fans, sponsors and the PDC after failing to earn back his PDC Tour Card at the 2025 Q-School.
Simon Whitlock, affectionately known as The Wizard, is something of a cult icon in darts.
The Australian is arguably the greatest player from down under of all time and enjoyed a successful 20 year darts career in both the BDO and the PDC.
He’s the only player to have been runner-up in both the PDC World Darts Championship and BDO World Darts Championship but he still saw plenty of success at the oche throughout his career.

He had several runner-up positions in the PDC throughout the 2010’s but would win the European Championship and World Cup of Darts alongside partner Damon Heta to establish himself as a top player during his prime.
Whitlock has been on the PDC Tour since 2009, following an initial spell in the PDC from 2001-2004 and a period in the BDO from 2004-2009.
In 2024 however, Whitlock would fall down the PDC Order of Merit rankings and lose his PDC Tour Card.
He hadn’t given up on his professional career though, entering Q-School earlier this month in an effort to win back his Card.
Unfortunately, Whitlock would be unsuccessful in his pursuit and took to social media to send out a heartfelt message…

The Wizard picked up just a single point across four days of Q-School and after averaging just 77, was overall disappointing in his attempt to regain his Tour Card.
He would take to social media to post the following message:
“So where do I start – It has been 14 amazing years with @OfficialPDC and memories I will never forget. Thank you to everyone connected for making it happen @MattPorter_PDC @BarryHearn @ModusDarts180 @Winmau.
“55yo now and the next chapter begins – still life in this old Wallaby yet 🇦🇺 thankyou everyone 👍🤝👍”

Fans were quick to show appreciation to The Wizard saying:
“Legend of the game, all the best in the next chapter Simon”
“Thanks for all memories, legend!🙏🇦🇺🧙♂️🥲”
“Won’t be the same without you Simon, your World Cup win was likely my favorite moment watching Darts”
“Thank you for all the memories, Simon. Hero of my childhood!🧙🏻♂️”
An incredible response to one of the icons of the game!
Whitlock has yet to say what his next steps will be but whatever they are, he can look back proudly and fondly on his time in darts.
