Luke Littler wins his first PDC major ranking title after beating Martin Lukeman 16-3 in the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts final on Sunday evening.
It took Luke Littler just 34 minutes and 43 seconds to claim his first PDC major ranking title at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts final.
Littler has now won 10 PDC titles so far in his debut campaign and moves up to 5th overall in the PDC Order of Merit rankings. It’s been a memorable week for the youngster but that’s also true for his opponent in the final.
Martin Lukeman – who’s had the tournament of his life – was on the unfortunate receiving end of a Littler masterclass in the final as he would only be able to claim three legs on route to a 16-3 loss.
Lukeman has earned many new fans from this tournament run though. Just look at his response after stopping Littler’s 15-leg run (yes, 15 consecutive legs won):

Martin Lukeman on Luke Littler’s Future
In his post-match interview, regardless of the question that Lukeman was asked he would find a way to give all the credit to his opponent.
He spoke about his talent in some depth and gave his opinion on what Littler could do in the future of darts. He said:
“The boy, he’s just different man, he’s no Michael [van Gerwen], you know if he gets his head on, forget about Michael van Gerwen’s records, he’s going to beat Phil Taylor’s records.
“If he keeps his head right, stays away from drink, girls, or whatever, that boy’s going to go very, very far.
“He’ll break records ridiculously.”
Lukeman was then asked if he thinks Luke Littler is the most naturally gifted darts player there’s ever been, to which he responded:

It wasn’t mentioned but a quick scroll through the responses to this post on X have people speculating that Lukeman was refraining from mentioning drinking alcohol which is what the 98% of players reference would be.
That was not what he said, just what darts fans think he was referencing but couldn’t mention in a media interview.
His statement already has fans divided though as most believe that regardless of Littler’s talent, he won’t be able to break Phil Taylor’s records, especially the World Championship wins record.
