Gary Anderson made a surprising emotional plea yesterday as he called for Adrian Lewis to return to darts.
Anderson won his first match at the 2025 World Matchplay with a convincing 10-5 victory over Luke Woodhouse. He won five straight legs to close out the match and gave nostalgic glimpses of prime Ando.
Following the win though, he made surprise headlines as he called the younger generation of darts players ‘boring’ and reminisced on the ‘good old days’ he shared with the likes of Phil Taylor, Kevin Painter and Adrian Lewis.

He focused on Adrian Lewis in particular and pleaded for the former two-time World Champion to return to the game.
“The old boys, Aidy Lewis and all them… Like I say, Aidy was brilliant and I wish he comes back, I do miss him.
“Love you Aidy.”
Adrian Lewis would then take to social media and posted on X a short (and teasing response) to say he’d consider it!

Adrian Lewis Says He’ll ‘Consider’ Return to Darts
Adrian Lewis is one of the greatest darts players of all time.
A two-time World Champion (won back-to-back) and one of the most naturally gifted players we’ve ever seen, despite some issues at the oche during his playing career he was always a fan favourite.
He had to step away from the game in 2023 as family health issues took priority over darts and he ultimately lost his Tour Card last year.
This didn’t necessarily mean it would be the last we’d see of him though as he revealed last year that if he got his ‘mind right’ then he’d look to make a return.
This latest post really revealed how much fans want to see this become a reality.

There were dozens of comments like this as the demand for Lewis to return is clear!
On his day, he’s one of the best ever to watch but if he were to return, could he return and be close to his best?
He’s been very active on the exhibition scene so you never know, his post might have a half truth to it and we really could see a potential return for Lewis in the near future…
