Gary Anderson is looking to make it to consecutive PDC major quarter-finals as he is through to the last 16 of the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts and will face Stephen Bunting for a place in the last 8.
Anderson made it through to the last 16 of the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts, finishing top of a tricky Group G whilst remaining undefeated in the process.
Anderson is a two-time finalist in the Grand Slam of Darts but is yet to win it. He frequently jokes that he’s a part-time darts player but his performances in the tournament so far are still elite.
He beat Ryan Joyce 5-1 in the opening match with a 113.20 average and then proceeded to defeat Michael van Gerwen 5-4 registering a 105.19 average. His final game against Noa-Lynn van Leuven was a 5-2 victory with a 95.75 average to finish top of Group G.

Following his game against MVG, Anderson was asked if he would ‘get up for it’ more against a player of Michael’s standard and The Flying Scotsman had one of the best responses we’ve heard to that type of question….

Gary Anderson Says He Doesn’t Care Who He Faces – Kids & Grannies Aren’t Even Safe!
During his post-game interview with the media, Anderson was asked if he gets ‘more up’ for games against Michael than other players (the two have had a long-term rivalry in darts).
Anderson not only quickly answered the question but also brought competition against grannies and kids into his response 👀
He said:
“Nah, every games the same. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing Michael van Gerwen or a 90 year old granny in an exhibition, I’m there to play darts.
“It’s the same with the kids. I missed a 9-darter against a youngster and he ended up going crying.
“His dad said why did you do that?
“He’s not beating me, I ain’t losing.
“It doesn’t work like that, you don’t mean to do it but once you start playing it’s like, I ain’t going to lose.”
…
What a response 🤣
No denying Gary has the winning mentality and the MVG/Granny comparison was great but to then give a real example to prove his point is even better!

Gary Anderson will face Stephen Bunting later this evening as the pair will battle for a place in the quarter-finals.
Bunting is just one of two players ranked inside the top 10 PDC Order of Merit still in this tournament alongside Rob Cross in what has been a tournament for the underdogs so far…
