The INFAMOUS Break Routine Luke Littler Used to Win 2024 Grand Slam of Darts

Luke Littler finally claimed his first PDC major ranking title on Sunday by defeating Martin Lukeman 16-3 to win the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts. Lukeman was full of praise for Littler, but couldn’t believe the break routine that he had…

Expectation was high on Luke Littler after he made it to the World Darts Championship final aged just 16.

That was unheard of and darts fans, media, players, basically everyone… started hyping the youngster as ‘potentially’ the greatest darts player we’ll ever see.

It’s a lot of expectation but after winning 10 titles so far in his debut season, with the most recent being the Grand Slam of Darts, a ranked PDC major title, he’s going some way to showing he is the real deal when it comes to darts.

Darts has always been a pub sport.

The game is incredibly professional now but away from cameras, a lot of players will admit to drinking alcohol while playing darts.

With changes in the sport though as prize money keeps increasing and society in general moves away from ‘drinking’ so much, the new wave of darts players tend to be sober and treat darts as you would any high level sport.

It was therefore incredibly amusing when Martin Lukeman said he was having a smoke and during the Grand Slam of Darts break revealed that Luke Littler was having “a curry, a boost and Squashies”.

Well, Luke Littler has now come forward to clear up the rumours around his break routine (diet)…

Squashies and a Boost – The Secret to Darts Success

Luke Littler has been doing a few media rounds following his Grand Slam win and the latest was joining talkSPORT to briefly recap the year he’s had and look forward to the 2025 World Darts Championship next month.

A key point of interest though was not how he won the Grand Slam of Darts in terms of ability, Andy Goldstein was far more interested in confirming whether or not the break routine Martin Lukeman leaked was true…

To which Littler confirmed it saying:

“It was after the semi-final, we didn’t want to go back to the hotel so we just stayed and got myself a chicken katsu curry.

“Obviously we had three or four breaks in the final so I would just have some Squashies and obviously a Boost together to keep my energy.”

There you have it. The key to peak performance in darts!

Earlier in the year it was kebabs, now it’s curries and sweets…

In all seriousness, it was a long day and he is just 17 years old. If having a few sweets during the break is what he needs to do then fair enough.

Some of the older generation should probably take notice, the days of downing pints to ‘calm the nerves’ don’t really hold up as much when there’s £100k+ to be won at these tournaments 👀

There’s no time to rest with the darts calendar as players are back in action this weekend for the Players Championship Finals.
