After winning his first ranking major title at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts last weekend, Luke Littler is now through to the semi-finals of the Players Championship Finals as he looks to extend his 2024 title collection (currently 10).

It’s been one of the best breakthrough campaigns that the darts world has ever seen and you could even stretch it as far as sports in general!

Luke Littler became a sensation at the beginning of 2024 when, aged just 16 years old, he made it to the finals of the World Darts Championship.

This was an unprecedented achievement by the youngster and he put darts firmly on the mainstream map.

Many were saying he could be the greatest player ever while others were saying it was a fluke tournament.

Well, almost a year later Littler is now ranked 5th in the PDC Order of Merit and has won 10 titles in 2024 so far.

After such a great year, we know he has phenomenal darting ability but Luke Littler has also revealed something that helps him a lot during matches…

How Luke Littler ‘Gets Crowd on Side’ During Darts Matches

After his Grand Slam of Darts victory on Sunday, Luke Littler gave a few interviews during the week with Sky Sports and talkSPORT included.

It was his interview with talkSPORT in particular where Luke Littler revealed something that he feels has been giving him an edge in his matches.

When asked if he feels the excitement walking out for games, he responded:

“The walk on plays a big factor in your game.

“Obviously you walk on, you see all the fans, you get to sign stuff for them.

“See your friends, see your family and with anyone’s walk on, it gets the crowd and for myself, it gets the crowd on your side and you’re just ready to go then.”

His song “Greenlight” by Pitbull is the walk-on in particular that he feels ‘gets the crowd on side’ and he also uses it as an opportunity to engage with them as much as possible.

Earlier in the year is a prime example when he taunted Liverpool fans (as a Manchster United fan) with the score when the Premier League was held in Liverpool on Night 13:

It’s definitely a strategy that may be working for him and going under the radar.

At the Grand Slam of Darts there was a lot of controversy following his comeback win over Mike De Decker

De Decker was on the receiving end of heavy whistling and jeering from the crowd which affected his game and was a pivotal moment that would see Luke Littler win the match and eventually the tournament.

De Decker isn’t a disliked player either but such was the crowd affinity towards Littler that he was unfortunately targeted as a result.

Luke Littler faces Ross Smith later this evening in the semi-finals of the Players Championship Finals as he looks to potentially win back to back major titles on back to back weekends…
