Beau Greaves has qualified to play in the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts next month as she qualifies for the tournament for the second consecutive year. Greaves has admitted however, that it’s not a tournament she is looking forward to playing in…

Beau Greaves has continued her darting ascent in 2024 as the top ranked women’s player.

She has already won the 2024 Women’s World Matchplay and eight Women’s Series titles, earning her qualification for both the Grand Slam of Darts next month and the 2025 World Darts Championship.

Greaves is undeniably the best women’s player at the moment with close rival Fallon Sherrock even admitting as much recently.

Alongside her dominant displays in the women’s circuit on the PDC, Greaves has also won back to back Women’s World Championship titles in the WDF.

Many fans and players believe Beau has the ability to be an elite darts player, not just in the women’s game but in the open division as a whole.

Despite this backing, Greaves has been very vocal in recent months about the fact that she doesn’t like to play against men and also believes that women don’t have the level of consistency to compete with men.

Following her Women’s World Matchplay win, she gave a controversial interview where she voiced her opinion that men’s and ladies darts should remain separate and stated “you’re just being silly if you think a lady can go to Ally Pally and win [the World Championship].”

This was a damaging opinion from what many consider to be the best women’s player, especially when the PDC have been actively investing in the development of the women’s game.

Greaves has now once again voiced her issues playing against men after qualifying for the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts…

Beau Greaves Not Looking Forward to Playing Men in the Grand Slam of Darts

Greaves had a solid performance at her Grand Slam of Darts debut in 2023 beating Ricardo Pietreczko and losing narrowly to Nathan Aspinall and Damon Heta.

It’s fair to say she’s continued to improve since then but after qualifying for the 2024 event taking place next month, Greaves has said how she isn’t confident going into the tournament:

“People know I’m not keen on playing the lads on telly but it’s a good opportunity for me.

“I just don’t feel as if I can win it. People say I’m stubborn, people say whatever they want, but I know how good I can be and what I’m like most of the time.

“It’s about that consistency and most of the ladies don’t have the consistency to compete with the men.

“I’m there, I’ve qualified for it so I’ll play it. It’s not something I look forward to and it’s not something I necessarily want to play in but the opportunity is there.

“I’ll always try my best and give it 100 percent on stage but maybe I should learn from that by being more positive about playing in it, but it’s just not what I like playing in.”

Greaves has also qualified for the PDC World Championship but will turn down the invitation to defend her title at the WDF Women’s World Championship.

Fallon Sherrock and Noa-Lynn van Leuven have also qualified for the 2025 event with the latter set to become the first transgender player to compete in the tournament.

This is on the back of a few months where gender has been a hot topic in darts..

Deta Hedman withdrawing from ladies events when drawn against a transgender player sparked a response from the WDF who issued a statement warning possible sanctions for this type of behaviour.
