Dimitri Van den Bergh defeated Matt Campbell 8-3 in Hildesheim to win the PDC Players Championship 12 and earn his second title in 2024.
In his seventh Players Championship final, Dimitri overcame Matt Campbell 8-3 to win his second title of the year and his third Players Championship, with the last coming in 2021.
He started the day by defeating Martin Schinfler 6-3 and Maik Kuivenhoven 6-5 before going on to win against Mike de Decker 6-1, Dom Taylor 6-3, Boris Krcmar 6-3 and Madars Razma 7-3.
He is now the twelfth different winner in as many player championships this year as it’s proving difficult for any player to get repeat appearances in the latter stages of this tournament, never mind winning it!
He initially went behind to Matt Campbell 3-1 in the final and it looked like Campbell could be the favourite after already defeating Ross Smith and Danny Nopert on his way to the final.
He missed three chances for a 4-1 lead though and that proved to be the turning point for Van den Bergh.
‘The Dream Maker’ went into attack mode and took out 4×18 dart legs, a 17 dart leg, a 16 dart leg and then a ruthless 12 dart leg to win the game 8-3.

Dimitri Moves to Seventh Position In Order of Merit
Earlier this year Dimitri won the UK Open and winning the title today means that he’s now moved up to seventh in the PDC Order of Merit.
He’s jumped three places overtaking Peter Wright, Jonny Clayton and Dave Chisnall.
If he maintains this form and has a few solid showings in some majors this year, he’ll be a prime candidate to make it into next year’s Darts Premier League.
“I’ve been hitting huge averages and losing, so to play nowhere near my best and win a title is something I just can’t explain,” Dimitri said following the win.
“It’s been a while since I won a Players Championship title so it’s a nice feeling to get that off my back.”
