Nathan Aspinall won Night Ten of the 2025 Premier League Darts in Manchester last night, beating Luke Humphries 6-4 in the final to move into the top four.

Last night produced one of the best Premier League shows in recent memory.

Third-highest average in Premier League history, nine-darter, 100% on doubles…

Nathan Aspinall would win the night in front of his local support as the Stockport ace beat Luke Humphries 6-4 in the final to move into the top four in the table.

We’re now more than halfway through this year’s campaign and last night was really a demonstration of the darting elite hitting their stride. Below we’ve looked at some of the key talking points from Night Ten.

Luke Humphries Bounces Back After Criticism

Luke Humphries has been at the centre of much fan and media attention this week for all the wrong reasons.

After stating that he felt like darts was a ‘chore’ at the moment due to the hectic schedule and lack of a break for the world number one, he was hit with a lot of backlash from fans.

As a result, he said he wouldn’t be voicing his true feelings anymore and came into the night with something of a black cloud hovering over him.

That was soon erased though as Humprhies had a blistering performance beating Stephen Bunting 6-1 in the opening game registering a 118.43 average, the third highest in Premier League history.

He would then beat world champion and night favourite Luke Littler in the semi-finals on route to finishing runner-up on the night.

The situation just never seems to phase Humprhies when it comes to his performances at the oche as he looks to secure his first Premier League major title this year.

Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobey Continue to Struggle

This sounds unfair to say after Stephen Bunting won Night Nine last week but a 108 average in his loss to Luke Humphries tonight just shows that no matter how well Bunting plays in the Premier League this year, he just can’t seem to catch a break or run of form…

It’s 9/10 nightly losses for the St Helens man now who finds himself bottom of the table with a playoff position seeming completely out of reach at this stage.

Chris Dobey started the Premier League campaign in promising style as he went to the final on opening night but four wins across the campaign so far sees him just ahead of Bunting at the bottom of the table and also looking unlikely to progress.

When the Premier League line-up was announced, fans (and players) questioned the inclusion of Gerwyn Price and Aspinall but it ended up being the other two wildcard selections who have struggled.

Gerwyn Price Makes it 4/8 Players to Hit a Nine-Darter

Luke Littler may have finally broken his Gerwyn Price curse with a long overdue victory over the Welshman, but Price still managed to put on a show for the fans in the audience.

A well timed nine-darter makes Price the fourth player to hit a nine-darter in the 2025 Premier League. He joins Luke Humphries, Luke Littler and Rob Cross as 50% of the Premier League line-up have now collected the bonus prize for this feat.

Headline sponsor BetMGM committed to gifting any player to hit a nine-darter this campaign a £30,000 set of 18ct gold darts.

With four players now reaching that milestone, It’s cost BetMGM £120,000 so far with plenty of darts still to come.

At this stage, picking up the gold darts is looking like more of an achievement and necessity than winning a night this year as it emerged as the players who have won the set are now ‘bantering’ the players yet to do it 😅

Nathan Aspinall Justifying his Premier League Inclusion

As we mentioned earlier, there was A LOT of criticism for Nathan Aspinall’s inclusion in the Premier League this year.

His ranking and performances last year may not have justified it, however, the PDC put their trust in The Asp to bring in the fans and to perform on the biggest stage and so far, he’s shown he’s still capable of doing just that.

A dominant win over Rob Cross in the opening game saw Aspinall go 6/6 on checkouts. He’d then carry this onto his match against Michael van Gerwen as he went 8/8 and looked like he couldn’t miss a double!

In the final leg of his win over Luke Humphries, Aspinall hit back-to-back 180’s to tease the nine-darter in what was an overall impressive performance throughout the night.

The Asp was emotional afterwards as he thanked fans and spoke about overcoming his issues with dartitis, injury, and form but there’s no doubt he’s looking back to his best based on recent form and could be a dangerous player for the rest of 2025 now.

Four Players are Battling for Two Positions

Finally, with gaps in the Premier League table opening up it seems that four players are now battling for just two qualifying places to the 2025 play-offs.

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are well clear at the top of the standing while Chris Dobey and Stephen Bunting are quite some way off the pace…

That leaves Gerywn Price, Nathan Aspinall, Michael van Gewen and Rob Cross all bunched together in the middle of the table and competing for the final two qualifying places.

Price, Aspinall and MVG are all tied on 15 points but with the Dutchman yet to win a Premier League night in 2025, he is currently sitting in 5th.

Rob Cross is also yet to win a night and closely trails the three players above sitting on 12 points.

At the start of the campaign, most had MVG as a clear favourite to finish 3rd but his struggles to even make it to a final are starting to show and now a clear favourite for qualification finds himself with the possibility of missing out.

Aspinall and Price meanwhile are proving all the doubters wrong as both sit in a qualifying place. Even if they don’t finish up there at the end of the season, they’ve more than justified inclusion this year to back-up the old saying of “form is temporary, class is permanent”.

Premier League darts continues next Thursday as the players head to Rotterdam where Michael van Gerwen will be odds on favourite to pick up his first nightly win in front of a home crowd.
