Cameron Menzies won his second PDC title yesterday beating Peter Wright 8-3 to win Players Championship 11. He might not be able to play in PC12 today due to work commitments but that is expected to change this year…
There was a strong Scottish contingent at Players Championship 11 yesterday as Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies all made the semi-finals.
Cameron Menzies would be the player to end up victorious as he beat Peter Wright in convincing fashion to secure his second PDC title.
The 35 year old had something of a breakout season in 2024 as he made it to the final of two Players Championship events, winning one of them and also making it to the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Despite being a solid tour player, Menzies sits outside the top 32 in the PDC Order of Merit and has admitted he never felt comfortable quitting his day job as a plumber.
There are a number of players on the tour who, despite being professional darts players, don’t make enough in prize money and sponsorships to play darts as their full time career.
In 2024 Cameron Menzies earned £128,000*, double the £54,250* he made in 2023. This seems like a decent wage but this doesn’t include expenses for travel & accommodation, management fees, any other costs associated with darts and of course taxes.
Having said that, his continued performances in 2025 have finally led him to make a ‘dream’ decision for his career…

Cameron Menzies to go ‘Full Time’ with Darts
Following his win yesterday, Cameron Menzies spoke with the PDC and revealed that he might not be able to play in Players Championship 12.
He needs to speak to the supervisor from his plumbing job to ask to take the time off!
Juggling darts and a separate career is a hard schedule to manage but Menzies has finally made the decision to pursue darts as his full time career.
He revealed:
“I’ll be honest, I might pull out of tomorrow.
“The reason is, I’m quitting my job soon and I’m taking darts full time soon because I’m in a situation now which is a good situation, so I’m going to ask my supervisor if I can book tomorrow off.
“I’m going to travel home Wednesday and work Thursday/Friday but I’m quitting my job to take darts full time because it’s genuinely crazy.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them [other job] because they’ve supported me massively and I’m only quitting because I’m not there anymore.
“I’ve had one day’s work in the last eight weeks but that’s because my dart career is kicking off which obviously is my dream so I can’t moan.”
Darts fans have been calling for Menzies to take up darts full time and see how he can progress if he fully commits to it and it looks like 2025 is going to be that year.
