Gian van Veen picked up his first ProTour title last month winning the Players Championship 6 event, just a day after finishing runner-up in PC5. His underlying stats for the season however have him ranked as a top three player in four major categories.
Gian van Veen is one of darts brightest prospects.
The 2024 World Youth Championship winner has made the semi-final of the European Championship in 2023, the quarter-final of the Grand Slam of Darts last year and the quarter-final of the UK Open this year.
Aged just 22, he’s still classed as a youngster but so far, he’s been heavily overshadowed by the rise of Luke Littler.
Littler is an anomaly for his age though (this needs to be remembered), so players like Gian and Josh Rock are still very much future prospects despite being in their early 20’s.
On the ProTour this year for example, he is showing clear signs that if he brings current form to the big stages, a first major title could be inevitable sooner rather than later…

From ten Players Championship events so far in 2025, the stats show that Gian van Veen is comfortably one of the best performing players and is already looking like an elite player!

Van Veen is 2nd in the OoM, is maintaining the 3rd highest average behind Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen, has the 2nd most 180’s hit, and has the most 100+ checkouts.
Of course stats don’t mean everything in darts, but when you look at the numbers he’s putting up on the Tour then his ceiling looks like it could be in the elite category.
His ‘breakout’ year was 2023 but if he can keep this type of form going then 2025 could really be a year that puts his name amongst the biggest in the sport.
