Gerwyn Price has seen a resurgent return to form in 2025 and will be looking to win his first Premier League Darts title on Thursday for play-off finals night at The O2 in London.

Price was runner-up in the 2023 Premier League but had a 2024 season to forget, both in the Premier League and on the Tour in general.

He finished 7th in the Premier League and stated that he wanted to focus on the Pro Tour and rankings events instead of playing in an ‘exhibition’.

He also suffered multiple early exits in major ranking tournaments and there was even talk of his retirement from the sport…

A mindset change at the end of the year though, saw the Iceman make it to the quarter-finals of the 2025 World Championship.

He built on this form to win three Players Championship events this year and three Premier League nightly wins – which have helped him reach fourth in the table and secure his qualification to the play-offs this week.

He’ll play defending Premier League champion Luke Littler in the semi-finals but believes he has an edge over the current World Champion.

Gerwyn Price Believes He Has “The Edge” Over Luke Littler

Price is one of the few players to have a positive head-to-head record against Luke Littler overall, and both are tied for games (2-2) in the Premier League this season when the pair have met.

In a conversation with talkSPORT Darts, Price was asked about his mindset when playing someone like Littler and he responded:

“I think that’s probably where I’ve got an edge over Luke and everybody else, or over the other players when they play those sorts of players [Luke Littler’s] because I literally just play the board.

“I know if I just play my A game then nobody else matters. That probably sounds a little bit arrogant but I believe in my own ability.

“I don’t really care about the Luke’s, the Michael’s… I know if I play well then I’ve got a really good chance of winning.”

Price was then asked if he had any tactics playing against the top players and he revealed that he does have some ‘tactics’ he uses, especially when playing against slow players…

How Gerwyn Price Uses ‘Tactics’ Against Slow Darts Players

Despite saying that he plays the board, Price revealed that he does have certain tactics depending on the opponent.

He highlighted Mensur Suljovic, a slow player, as someone he modifies his game against. Price said:

“I’ve never really said this but when I used to play Mensur Suljovic, and he’s quite slow, I would just go a little bit slower than him.

“Then he would speed up, then I’d speed up, so I’d get into my own rhythm.

“You know certain players like him, he is really, really slow so then I would try and go a little bit slower than him.

“Then he’d try to quicken up, then I would. I don’t think he’d even know that he’d be playing at my pace so it’s just little things like that.

“You know some people do play tactics and you’ve just got to learn to play the player.”
